Jeff “J Attack” Dunne wants his teammate to break free of the criticism.
The Australian breakdancer came to Rachael “Raygun” Gunn‘s defense after she faced criticism for her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics‘ women’s breakdancing competition.
“All I know is she represented hard,” J Attack, 16, told the Herald Sun in an interview published Aug. 12, “she has been the leading breaker in Australia for the women and I acknowledge her and respect her 100 percent.”
Raygun raised eyebrows after her unconventional moves earned her 0 points from the judges, causing her to lose all three of her B-Girl round-robin battles during the Aug. 9 Games. The online criticism surrounding her performance got so bad that Australia’s Olympic chief also spoke out in defense of the 36-year-old.
“I love Rachael,” Chief de mission Anna Meares said in an Aug. 10 press conference. “And I think that what has occurred on social media with trolls and keyboard warriors, and taking those comments and giving them airtime, has been really disappointing.”
But Raygun isn’t the only Australian breakdancer getting attention for her showing at the Olympics.
In fact, J Attack shared his gratitude for the loads of support he received after competing in the B-Boy round-robin battles the following day.
