Netflix drops first trailer for new Wallace & Gromit movie

Wallace and Gromit are finally back!

Netflix have released the first trailer for the new Wallace & Gromit movie.

The movie, titled Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, sees the iconic duo facing the returning Feathers McGraw and will be released on Netflix.

He first appeared in Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, and is arguably their most recognisable character outside the main two.

The film, releasing Christmas Day this year on Netflix, is the first return to the quintessentially British characters since Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death from 2008.

It will also be the first feature film entry into the series since 2005’s Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which won an Oscar in 2006 for Best Animated Feature.

The director of that film, Nick Park, who created the characters, is returning once again for Vengeance Most Fowl.

Feathers will not be the only villain of the film either, with ‘gnomes going bad’ also playing a part in the plot.

Director Nick Park, speaking on WallaceAndGromit.com, said: “I’d had the idea of a film about garden gnomes turning bad for more than a decade, but I could never work out what made them bad.”

He went on to say: “It occurred to me that the single most asked question I get when I meet fans is, will the penguin Feathers McGraw, Wallace and Gromit’s original antagonist from The Wrong Trousers 30 years ago, ever return?

“We’ve had fun bringing him back in cameo capacities but now, three decades on, it felt like the right time.

“Then it hit me: What if Feathers was involved with these gnomes.”

Feathers made an appearance in a cameo capacity at the end of the recent Chicken Run sequel on Netflix.

The synopsis of the film reads: “In Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, Gromit’s concern that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions proves justified, when Wallace invents a ‘smart’ gnome that seems to develop a mind of its own.

“When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister forces and save his master… or Wallace may never be able to invent again!”

In the replies to DiscussingFilm’s post of the clip, viewers couldn’t contain their excitement for the characters to return.

One fan tweeted: “That’s Christmas day sorted..!”

Meanwhile, a Wallace and Gromit superfan quoted it saying: “I can’t even joke this is so perfect, we’re actually so back.”
