Sharon Osbourne said her ‘heart aches’ following Liam Payne’s death

Sharon Osbourne thinks the music industry ‘let you down’ in her heartbreaking tribute to Liam Payne.

Payne, 31, was found dead after falling from a third floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday (16 October).

post-mortem examination report showed that the singer died of multiple traumas and ‘internal and external haemorrhage’.

Former The X Factor judge Osbourne made a guest appearance in 2010 to assist Louis Walsh at the judges’ houses phase of the competition.

That same year, Payne rose to fame on the show, alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, when One Direction was formed.

In a tribute shared on Instagram, Osbourne wrote: “Liam, my heart aches. We all let you down.”

Questioning the music industry, she added: “Where was this industry when you needed them?

“You were just a kid when you entered one of the toughest industries in the world.

“Who was in your corner? Rest in peace my friend.”

Prior to the singer’s death on Wednesday, police shared a transcript of calls made by hotel staff asking for assistance for a guest who was ‘intoxicated by drugs and alcohol‘.

In a statement, police said Payne’s hotel room had been ‘in complete disarray’ with ‘various items broken’.

Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office are referring to the incident as an ‘inconclusive death’.

Last night, (17 October) Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry, put out a joint statement following their former bandmates death.

“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” it read.

“In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.

“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever.

“For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us.

“We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”

Former The X Factor co-star Rebecca Ferguson has since admitted that she’s been worried about Payne for a while.

The singer-songwriter, who also appeared on the talent show in 2010, said on a live X Space: “I sent a message to some of the fans and I said: ‘I’m really worried about Liam, how do I get in touch with him?’ and no-one knew how.

“But I’ve been worried about him for a while because I could see that he was not in a good place, and I thought he might have been triggered by a lot of the stuff that has been in the news here lately as well.”
