The Rise of BYU Vocal Point
In 1991, Dave Boyce and Bob Ahlander, two gifted BYU students, envisioned the creation of a distinctive musical experience. This led to the establishment of BYU Vocal Point, a nine-member acapella group that rapidly became popular on campus.
The first live performance they held was a complete sell-out, and their achievements have been on a steady rise ever since. Particularly, they secured the fifth position in the third season of NBC’s The Sing-Off, establishing their presence in the acapella realm. Most recently, in December 2018, they revealed a contract with Universal Music Group’s classical division, Decca Gold, underscoring their remarkable skills and commitment. As Jason Bromley, one of the members, modestly puts it, “We are just regular college students accomplishing remarkable feats.”
