The youngest child of Michael Jackson used to be known as ‘Blanket’
Michael Jackson’s youngest child decided to change his nickname after being known as Blanket for over 10 years.
The Thriller singer’s youngest – officially named Prince Michael Jackson II – was born via surrogate to Jackson in 2002.
As a result of his father often being spotted wrapping him in a blanket to protect his identity and maintain privacy, he soon became nicknamed ‘Blanket’.
The nickname stuck with him all the way into him entering his teenage years, until 2015 when he decided to make a change.
Nearly 10 years ago, ‘Blanket’ adopted another nickname – ‘Bigi’ – in full, ‘Bigi Jackson’.
However, he’s not interested in following in his famous father’s musical footsteps but prefers to be an advocate about the dangers of climate change instead.

Speaking to ITV daytime television program Good Morning Britain back in 2021, he spoke about living with his father’s legacy and talked about why tackling climate change was so important.
Bigi said: “There’s a lot of really cool stuff here, there’s a lot of history here in this house and the studio here, that’s what he was all about.
“That’s what each of us want to do, make some things that people hopefully enjoy but also that benefit their lives.”
“I do think it’s important that we all know about [climate change], I think we have some work to do, but our generation knows how important it is.”

Along with his siblings Prince Michael Jackson I and Paris Jackson, Bigi was raised by his grandmother Katherine after the death of his father in 2009, though he has since moved to his own California mansion.
People reacting to his change of nickname and activism about climate change praised Jackson for the things he’d been through.
“It’s not easy coping with the death of a parent. Glad to see he’s doing better. Only wish good things for the offspring of MJ,” one said of the young man.
Another said they ‘love his name and wish him a lot of luck’, while a third added that if they were nicknamed Blanket they ‘would change my name too’ and hoped Bigi Jackson could have a ‘normal life’.

And a fourth wrote: “So wonderful of to realize and speak up about Climate Change. It’s very real sad we all must come together to slow it down as much as possible.
“For our children, our grandchildren and future generations.”
As for those hoping that the youngest Jackson might one day follow in his father’s footsteps, Bigi once admitted that he ‘can’t sing or dance’.
